PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal member, which does not retain a liquid refrigerant between a hardening tool and a metallic molding, and uniformly hardens the molding through consequently uniform cooling, when hardening the metal molding with the hardening tool. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the metal member comprising a preparation step of preparing the metal material for molding, a molding step of molding the prepared metal material into a predetermined shape of the metallic molding W, a hardening step of heating the metallic molding W with a hardening tool 21 of a non-contact type, and cooling it by supplying a liquid refrigerant 32 to harden it, is characterized by vibrating the metallic molding W in the hardening step, so as to prevent the liquid refrigerant 32 from being retained between the metallic molding W and the hardening tool 21.
