PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic fiber treating agent for producing carbon fiber, capable of, simultaneously and sufficiently, improving coherency of flameproof fiber and preventing fuse-bonding of the flameproof fiber each other in a flameproofing process when producing the carbon fiber, and to provide a method for treating the synthetic fiber for producing carbon fiber. SOLUTION: This synthetic fiber treating agent for producing carbon fiber is obtained by using, as a lubricant composing the agent, a specified amino- modified organosiloxane having amino-modified groups only on side chains of the main chain or on the side chains and the end of the main chain.
