PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronous code generating method, an information-recording method, an information-reproducing method, an information-reproducing device and an information storage medium, which enables detection of a synchronous code by preparing one kind of code pattern for detecting a synchronous position, in synchronous code and only detecting the pattern and enables detection of the synchronous code to be made simply, easily and quickly. SOLUTION: When user information is recorded on an information storage medium with a physical sector 5 unit of the format, after being modulated in accordance with the prescribed modulation rule, a plurality of synchronous codes are arranged in the physical sector and a common fixed code region (111) and variable code regions (112, 113) which are different between the synchronous codes are formed in the synchronous code. A synchronous position detecting code (121) is recorded on the fixed code region (111), and on the same code, a combination pattern of the pattern that has '0' continued k+2 times, and the pattern that '0' continued by two times is contained.
