PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems in a conventional paper conveying device that the pressing force of a sheet of paper against a side reference guide is changed by various external factors. SOLUTION: This paper conveying device is provided with a paper correcting part 26 which moves the sheet of paper 33 to the side reference guide 34 to correct the position gap of the sheet of paper 33 by the rotation of the skewed rollers 32 arranged on a paper conveying passage. The thickness of each skewed roller 32 is reduced. Therefore, the roller outer peripheral part which becomes a contact part with the sheet of paper 33 is deformed elastically due to the reaction force generated by pressing the sheet of paper 33 against the side reference guide 34 and the sheet of paper 33 is pressed against the side reference guide 34 by the elastic deformation.
