In a capacitor wherein the electrodes comprise the metallized internal and external surfaces of ceramic tube C, good distribution of the current lines on the plates is achieved by having the terminals A and B 1 , B 2 tubular and coaxial with one tube. Connection between terminal A and the internal electrode is via a joint J A of metal fibres located in a groove in the terminal, the connection being sealed with epoxy resin R. A similar joint J B connects the external terminal formed by half collars B 1 , B 2 supported by flange D. The arrangement may be used in a by-pass capacitor (Fig. 2, not shown), or the cut-off capacitor in a coaxial line (Fig. 3, not shown). The capacitor may be cooled by passing air or water through the tube or circulating the coolant within the tube. |
