<p>PURPOSE:To make a transmission data amount equal to or less than an original amount at the time of transmitting high resolution signals and low resolution signals formed from them. CONSTITUTION:In an even numbered field, in an area composed of HD picture elements x0-x5 and the area below it, the HD picture elements x4 and x5 overlap. An SD picture element z0 is formed by the weighing addition of the HD picture elements x0-x5, the z0 and difference data are transmitted and one of the difference data relating to pixel data are excluded. Then, since the x4 and x5 are already decoded in the area below, the HD picture elements of the area below can be decoded by holding them. Thus, the difference data relating to the HD pixel data x6, x7 and x8 and SD data z1 are required to be transmitted in the area below and the transmission data amount becomes less.</p> |
