<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a tactile typeface in which a visually impaired person can easily decipher a character or a sign and to permit indication of a character or a sign with the tactile typeface on a touch sense display, etc., especially with restricted resolution. SOLUTION: In the method for generating a tactile typeface, a portion being an approximately horizontal or approximately vertical segment is detected in a prescribed character or a sign represented by an inked pattern. As for the portion which can be represented by a horizontal segment or the vertical segment is replaced with the horizontal segment or vertical segment, and as for the potion not represented by the approximately horizontal or approximately vertical segment is replaced with a slant segment with a prescribed angle to the horizontal segment. Thus, a tactile typeface constituted of any one of or a combination of the horizontal segment, the vertical segment, the slant segment with the prescribed angle to the horizontal segment (or the vertical segment) is generated enabling to indicate the character or the sign using the tactile typeface.</p> |
