PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic wave shielding member which is much more improved in visibility. SOLUTION: A colored conductive layer is deposited particularly to the rear surface. Namely, this electromagnetic wave shielding member is provided at a substrate 1 with the colored conductive layer 2 consisting of a nitride (metal nitride) with a metal having electric resistance of 10<-4> to 10<-6>Ω.cm. Moreover, it is also possible to form a two- to three-layer structure by providing a metal conductive layer 3 of the metal itself on the colored conductive layer and moreover by providing the colored conductive layer on the conductive layer 3. The metal nitride layer is formed by sputtering the metal in the nitrogen gas. Since this member has a higher visibility like the electromagnetic wave shielding property when it is processed to a transparent member having a mesh pattern, it can be used more effectively to an image display apparatus such as PDP or the like. When the colored conductive layer is the copper nitride, it can be used as the good conductive layer of dark green color which is effective for visibility.
