The card reader has two windows for insertion of the cards and only a single set of connector blades (9-12). A SIM circuit or a smart card is inserted into different slots (2,3). When the smart card is in an intermediate position in the slot, access to the SIM circuit is neutralized. When the smart card is removed, the normal function of the telephone is resumed, if it had been stopped.
