PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problem with the introduction of dry gas into a panel during sealing for the purpose of avoiding thermal degradation of a blue phosphor during a sealing process, that bias occurs within the plane of the panel during the introduction and evacuation of the gas, causing in-plane nonuniformity of the characteristics of the blue phosphor. SOLUTION: A configuration is chonsen in which barrier ribs differ in length in a portion corresponding to the outside of at least one of display areas, along the longitudinal direction of the barrier ribs. Moreover, a configuration is chosen in which the length of barrier ribs increase or decrease for every predetermined number of ribs in a monotonous fashion from one substrate end parallel to the longitudinal direction of the barrier ribs to the other. This enables gas to fully flow even at the center of the panel where gas cannot flow easily in conventional panels, and the in-plane uniformity of the blue phosphor can be secured.
