A selected portion of a coded digital signal is located from a set of information representing the digital signal. The internal zones contained entirely in the selected portion of the digital signal are determined. The zones are decoded and then retrieved. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) Coded digital signal processor; (2) Storage medium storing coded digital signal processing program; and (3) Coded digital signal processing program.
