The laser-sighting system can be a compact side module (14) for use with revolvers (1) or automatic pistols (3). Features on the side of the firearm (1, 3) such as the yoke screw (2) and side plate screws (5, 6) of a revolver are used to secure this laser-sighting system in a location on the side of the firearm above the trigger guard (30). The takedown pins or slide stops (11) found in this location on many automatic pistols (3) can also be used for this purpose. The system uses a thin laser-sighting module (14) that does not interfere with the holstering, concealment, or handling of the firearm (1, 3). This module (14) is self-contained, including a laser diode and lens, a laser control circuit, a battery, an activation switch, and a laser housing with screw holes and an alignment mechanism. |
