Processing method has the following steps: identification of an application which can be used to produce digital documents (149) in a computer system (103); identification of a selected processing application from a number of processing applications within a computer system for processing the document and automatic generation of a document with a predetermined document format. An Independent claim is made for a document processing system with means for identifying an application and means for automated processing of the document with the identified application.
