A gearset, e.g. for an automotive gearbox, comprises two meshing gearwheels (2, 4) carried on respective rotary shafts (3, 5) whose axes are parallel. One of the gearwheels (2) includes a first engagement member (12) with a first annular engagement surface (14) which lies on the pitch circle of that gearwheel. The other gearwheel (4) includes a second engagement member (20) of resilient material with a second annular engagement surface which lies on the pitch circle of that gearwheel. The first and second engagement surfaces (14, 22) are in rolling engagement.
