<p>A metal 2-alkyl-2-adamantyl alcoholate [wherein the alkyl has 1 to 6 carbon atoms and the metal is lithium or -MgX (X is halogeno)] is reacted with (meth)acrylic anhydride or with an ester of a C2-8 alcohol having a double bond between the α- and β-positions with (meth)acrylic acid to produce a 2-alkyl-2-adamantyl (meth)acrylate. A tertiary amine compound may be added to the reaction system during the esterification, whereby the target compound can be obtained at a higher conversion.</p> |
