<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the heat resistance and durability of a wet friction material in order to cope with a reduction in the diameter and a decrease in the number of plies of a wet friction material, to be concrete, provide a phenol resin for a high-quality wet friction material, serving as a binder for a wet friction material used in an oil, particularly an ATF(automatic transmission fluid). SOLUTION: This phenol resin composition is a liquid resin composition obtained by mixing a resol phenolic resin with a liquid hydrolyzate of an alkoxysilane or its condensate, which is prepared in such a manner that the weight ratio (R/S) of the nonvolatile content of the resol phenolic resin to that of the liquid hydrolyzate of an alkoxysilane or its condensate, after heat treatment at 135 deg.C for 1 hr, is (64:36) to (10:90).</p> |
