PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground freezing earth retaining method in which a continuous wall does not remain in soil after the completion of work, nor is reinforcing steel buried but recovered for recycling. SOLUTION: In this ground freezing earth retaining method, reinforcing steel 2 formed with a refrigerant passage 3 is inserted at spaces along the peripheral edge of an excavated plate of the ground 1, and while allowing a refrigerant to flow in the refrigerant passage 3, soil around the reinforcing steel 2 is frozen in continuous wall shape to form a frozen wall W, and then the ground is excavated. A water injection nozzle 4 is mounted to the tip of the reinforcing steel 2, and the reinforcing steel 2 is pressed into the soil using the pressure of water jetted from the nozzle 4. While allowing the refrigerant to flow in the refrigerant passage 3 of the reinforcing steel 2, the ground 1 is frozen to form the frozen wall W.
