A plurality of monochrome toner image carriers (21(K,C,M,Y)) are respectively opposing to a circulating belt member (13) to transfer each monochrome toner image onto the belt member (13) or a recording medium (P) held on the belt member (13). Each of a plurality of driving gears (51(K,C.M,Y)) rotates one of the monochrome toner image carriers (21(K,C,M,Y)). Each of a plurality of intermediate gears (52(K,C,M,Y)) is disposed between adjacent driving gears (51(K,C,M,Y)) for transmitting a driving force from a previous driving gear to a subsequent driving gear.
