PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a high strength large sized graphite material simply and inexpensively without using a forming machine. SOLUTION: In a raw material filling process, a liquid raw material prepared by dispersing carbon powder is poured into a porous body made vessel 24 in which a skeleton forming material 29 is arranged. In a following forming process, the skeleton forming material 29 in which the liquid raw material 23 is filled is dried to obtain a prescribed shaped solid material 31. In a following firing process, the solid material 31 is fired to carbonize the carbon powder to obtain a fired material. In a following graphitizing process, the fired material is heat treated at 2000-3200 deg.C to be graphitized. As a result, the large sized graphite material 21 is obtained. |
