PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a hydrogen-absorbing alloy having increased rechargeable hydrogen migration capacity, reduced hysteresis and excellent plateau flatness and suitable for use in a heat pump. SOLUTION: The hydrogen-absorbing alloy has a composition represented by the formula (Zra Ti1-a )Mnb Cac Vd Nie (wherein, 0.05<=a<=0.2, 0.9<=b<=1.1, 0<c<=0.3, 0.35<=d<=0.45, 0.55<=e<=0.65 and 1.9<=c+d+e<=2.1 are satisfied) or represented by the formula (Zra Ti1-a )Mnb Crc Cad Ve Nif (wherein, 0.35<=a<=0.55, 0.6<=b<=0.8, 0.05<=c<=0.15, 0<d<=0.3, 0.20<=e<=0.30, 0.85<=f<=1.05 and 1.9<=c+d+e+f<=2.1 are satisfied).
