PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedal supporting structure for an automobile superior in safety capable of suppressing movement of a pedal toward a vehicle cabin inner side. SOLUTION: A pedal bracket 10 is formed by opposing pedal supporting brackets 21 and 31 with front ends coupled by a toe board 1 and having pedal supporting face parts 25 and 35, and rear supporting brackets 41 and 51 coupled to a steering support beam 5 and rear parts of the pedal supporting brackets 21 and 31. In a serration, a pedal lever 61 is rotatably supported on a spindle 66 suspended by pressing formed engagement shaft parts 68 and 69 in supporting holes 25c and 35c bored in the pedal supporting face parts 25 and 35. When the pedal supporting brackets 21 and 31 are deformed by external force from the front, the engagement shaft parts 68 and 69 are separated and pulled out of the supporting holes 25c and 35c by the pedal supporting face parts 25 an 35, and the pedal 60 is detached.
