METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING POSITIONAL INFORMATION OF DIGITAL MAP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positional information transmitter that can transmit the positional information of a digital map without hindrance even when the quantity of data is large. SOLUTION: This positional information transmitter transmits road configuration data indicating the configuration of a road section extracted on a digital map and event location data indicating the location of events based on relative positions in the road section. This transmitter is provided with one traffic information storage buffer 15 which stores the event location data and a plurality of divided configuration data storage buffers 13 and 14 which respectively store a plurality of divided road configuration data. This transmitter is constituted to transmit the divided road configuration data in a plurality of cycles by combining the event position data stored in the buffer 15 with the road configuration data stored in one of the configuration data storage buffers 13 and 14. This transmitter can reduce the quantity of simultaneously transmitted data in accordance with the capacity of a communication medium.
