PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having higher picture qualities.SOLUTION: A wire grid polarizing plate (10) has a substrate (11) having a concavo-convex structure extending in a specific direction on the surface thereof, and a conductive material (12) disposed to be unevenly present on one side face (11b) of a convex portion (11a) of the concavo-convex structure. Further, in the wire grid polarizing plate, in a cross-sectional view perpendicular to the extension direction of the concavo-convex structure, a pitch P1 that is a distance between two adjacent convex portions is set at 120 nm or less, and a convex-portion height (H) that is a difference in height between a highest portion (11c) of the convex portion and a lowest portion (11e) of a concave portion (11d) is set at 0.8 time to 1.3 times the pitch P1. By using the wire grid polarizing plate in a liquid crystal display device, the obtained liquid crystal display device has high picture qualities.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
