PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly and securely fit a first pipe 1 and a second pipe 2 mutually. SOLUTION: A first holding device 7 is detachably attached to the first pipe 1, a second holding device 8 is detachably attached to the second pipe 2, and the rear end part of the second pipe 2 is slightly fitted into the tip part of the first pipe 1. The second pipe 2 is fitted into the first pipe 1 by winding a flexible cable 33 applied to a roller 38 provided in the second holding device 8 around a winding drum 32 provided in the first holding device 7. Only a force parallel with the axis of the second pipe 2 acts on the second pipe 2 to fit the second pipe 2 into the first pipe 1 smoothly.
