PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizer and a method for manufacturing the polarizer having a high polarization degree and showing little decrease in the polarization degree even in a high temperature and high humidity environment. SOLUTION: The polarizer consists of a polymer compound or a liquid crystal compound in which carbon nanotubes are dispersed and arranged.
