PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice transplanter enabling stable planting of seedlings immediately after turning at a headland by properly leveling the irregular mud surface of a paddy field formed by the track of wheels, etc., upon turning at a headland. SOLUTION: The transplanter is composed of a traveling body 4 having front wheels 2 and rear wheels 3 and a seedling planting apparatus A placed at the rear of the traveling body. A headland grading apparatus D is placed between the front wheels 2 and the rear wheels 3 of the traveling body 4. The grading apparatus D is composed of a fixed-side rake-formed grading plate 28 having a comb part 27 for rough grading at the tip end of the plate and a mobile-side rake-formed grading plate 30 having a comb part 31 for fine grading at the tip end of the plate. These grading plates are movable to form a prescribed inclination opening angle, forced upward and provided with a mud flow discharging hole 32. The irregularity of the mud surface before a grading float 21 is graded by the grading apparatus D in the turning at the headland to enable a double-step grading work together with the grading with the grading float 21.
