PURPOSE: A device and a method for locking images harmful to juveniles in a signal reproducing system are provided to automatically cut image harmful to juveniles without setting a V-chip in the signal reproducing system. CONSTITUTION: A device for locking images harmful to juveniles in a signal reproducing system includes a recognition unit(150) and a microcomputer(160). The recognition unit recognizes an image with respect to a mark included in a video signal being reproduced. The mark indicates that the image is harmful to juveniles. When the recognition unit recognizes the mark, if a predetermined password is not inputted, the microcomputer locks the image being reproduced. The recognition unit includes an image extracting part(152) for extracting the image with respect to the mark from the video signal being reproduced, a memory(156) storing a reference image pattern used for recognizing the mark, and a comparator(154) for comparing the mark with the reference image pattern. |
