PURPOSE: A flat fluorescent lamp is provided to achieve improved efficiency of ultraviolet ray generation, while permitting ease of transportation by reducing length and volume of the lamp. CONSTITUTION: A flat glass plate(10) is heated, and a plate(9) having a protrusion is produced by a mold having a hole. The heated glass plate and the plate are coupled with each other by heating a sealing portion(5) so as to form a space between the protrusion of the plate and the flat glass plate. A trapezoidal positive column(1) is arranged to emit light, and a divider wall protrusion(3) and a sealing protrusion(4) radiate the heat generated from the fluorescent lamp and improve luminous efficiency by controlling the temperature of the positive column and mercury vapor pressure.
