PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting a floating, foreign object on a liquid surface that can detect a foreign object floating on the liquid surface in a container with improved reproducibility. SOLUTION: The apparatus for inspecting floating, foreign objects comprises an illumination apparatus 4 for applying light with an incidence angle that is in parallel with a liquid surface from the lower portion of the liquid surface, or equal to or more than a critical angle, an imaging means 5 for imaging reflection light in a foreign object at an angle being equal to or more than the critical angle from the upper side of an interface, and a processing means for judging whether foreign objects are present or not according to the image that has been picked up.
