PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing method, capable of performing after-recording of a bitmap image on a recording medium on which a pack is multiplexed and recorded. SOLUTION: Whether the contents of sound coded data recorded on an information record area A are silent or not is discriminated from first information of a table T pre-recorded on an information recording area B; it is decided that after-recording of a voice signal is possible when the contents are decided to be silent; and that the voice signal to be subjected to after-recording in an encoding method being the same as that of voice coded data recorded in the information record area A of a recording medium and also in the same fixed bit rate is encoded from second and third information in the read table, and after that is packed and is subsequently overwritten on a voice pack and recorded. A bitmap image is overwritten and recorded on a pack of a bitmap image, based on fourth information of the table T, when bitmap image coded data recorded on the information record area A is invisible.
