PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electric part capable of coping with plural kinds of electric parts different in an external shape only by replacing a pressing member. SOLUTION: In an IC socket as a socket for the electric part, a contact pin is arranged in a socket body for housing an IC package as the electric part, and while the contact pin is provided with an upper end part contacted with a terminal of the electric part and a lower end part electrically connected to a circuit board, an opening/ closing member 18 is rotatably arranged in the socket body, and the pressing member 20 for pressing an upper surface part of the IC package is detachably arranged in the opening/closing member 18. A locking part 20d is formed in the pressing member 20, a locking object part 18c for engaging with and disengaging from the locking part 20d is formed in the opening/closing member 18, the pressing member 20 is supported by the opening/closing member 18 in a state of locking the locking part 20d on the locking object part 18c, and while the pressing member 20 is constituted so that a locked state is released by rotating by a prescribed angle from the locked state of the locking object part 18c and the locking part 20d, a shaft 21 as a rotation checking means is arranged for checking the rotation of the pressing member 20 in the locking state.
