PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a longitudinal anisotropic magnet material, in which a long powder-molded material is produced by hot extrusion, is cut to a desired length to use as a base material for giving anisitropy, and warm extrusion is performed at a slow strain rate to produce a longitudinal anisotropic magnet. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a longitudinal magnet material, Mn-Al-C alloy powder having a composition containing, by mass, 68 to 73% Mn and 0.2 to 2.1% C, and the balance Al is charged into a metallic vessel, is subjected to hot extrusion, and is thereafter cut, and the cut materials used as the base material for a longitudinal magnet. Alternatively, Mn-Al-C alloy powder having a composition containing 68 to 73% Mn and 0.2 to 2.1% C, and the balance Al is charged into a metallic vessel, is extruded at a strain rate of >=10 s<-1> by a hot extrusion machine, and is thereafter cut, and the cut materials used as the base material for a longitudinal magnet. |
