TOROIDAL TYPE VARIABLE-SPEED DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type variable-speed drive improving the strength and the wear and abrasion resistance of the cage. SOLUTION: The cage 20 is provided with the annular main body 22 having a uniform wall thickness from the inner peripheral end to the outer peripheral end and a plurality of pockets 24 formed in the circumferential direction of the main body 22. Each pocket 24 holds rolling bodies 8 to be freely rotatable. The main body 22 is made of a metallic member having a strength hard to deform against external forces working during power transmission. A membrane 26 is fitted to both side faces confronting to the inner ring 7a and the outer ring 7b of a thrust antifriction bearing, and the membrane 26 slides at a low friction coefficient to the inner ring 7a and the outer ring 7b of the thrust antifriction bearing.
