PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rotary throttle valve type carburetor having a uniform thickness and high dimensional accuracy of a throttle valve, forming a total unit in small size, decreasing a leak amount of air when the throttle valve is fully closed, and maintaining the initial performance even if generating aging effect. SOLUTION: A spherical throttle valve 38 having a reducing hole 38d and an intake passage member 31b are inserted from an inlet end in an enlarged cylinder part 31a of a carburetor main unit 31, a spring 44 is interposed in a stepped part of the intake passage member 31b, and a press fit ring 45 is engaged with a clearance between the enlarged cylinder part 31a and the intake passage member 31b. The throttle valve 38 is received turnably with shafts 35, 54 traversing an intake path 32 serving as the center into a spherical valve chest 33 between the enlarged cylinder part 31a and the intake passage member 31b, to be always pressed in an outlet direction (valve chest 33 of enlarged cylinder part 31a) of the intake path 32 by tension of the spring 44. An inlet of an air passage 43 is opened to an inlet end part of the intake path 32, and an outlet of the air passage 43 is opened to the valve chest 33 from a side wall of the carburetor main unit 31.
