PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thiophene derivative useful as a prophylactic, a therapeutic agents, etc., for arthropathy represented by chondropathy. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by the general formula (I) [wherein, R<1> is a hydrocarbon residue, a heterocyclic group, hydroxy group, an acyl group or amino group which may respectively be substituted; R<2> is cyano group, formyl group, thioformyl group, a heterocyclic group which may be substituted or a group represented by the formula Z<1> -Z<2> (wherein, Z<1> is CO, CS, SO or SO2 ; Z<2> is a hydrocarbon residue, a heterocyclic group, hydroxy group or amino group which may respectively be substituted); R<3> is hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, cyano group or amino group, an acyl group, a hydrocarbon residue or a heterocyclic group which may respectively be substituted; and ring-A is a 5- or a 7-membered ring which may be substituted] or its salt.
