PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply converting carboxy group of various compounds (1) having the carboxy group in the molecule into a (dioxolenon-4- yl)methyl ester in high yield at a low cost by using a 4-chloromethyldioxolenone compound (2). SOLUTION: This method for producing the compound represented by formula (3) (wherein, Q denotes an organic group; and R1 and R2 denote each hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group or phenyl group which may have a substituent) is characterized by reacting the carboxylic acids represented by formula (1) (wherein, M denotes hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or a transition metal; and n denotes the valence of M) with the 4- chloromethyldioxolenone compound represented by formula (2) in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst and a metal iodide in a solvent. |
