PURPOSE: A safety belt ignition switch is provided to prevent occupants of a vehicle from being injured or damaged by preventing a vehicle engine from being ignited if the occupants do not wear a safety belt. CONSTITUTION: A safety belt ignition switch includes a change over relay, which is operated prior to the safety belt ignition switch in such a manner that an alarm lamp is operated if the driver or occupants of a vehicle do not wear a safety belt. An engine of the vehicle is prevented from being ignited if the driver or occupants of the vehicle do not wear the safety belt. When the alarm lamp is turned off, if the driver wears the safety belts, an input power is outputted through a terminal and grounded to an earth. At this time, a potential difference is created so that electricity is transferred. Thus, the driver runs the vehicle if the driver wears the safety belt.
