A polymer derived from triazine derivatives for semi finished products and molding materials having increased fire resistance and strength is based on: (A) triazine derivatives with hydroxy alkylamino groups; (B) multifunctional compounds containing isocyanates or aliphatic and aromatic dicarboxylic acids, their chlorides or anhydrides is new. A polymer derived from triazine derivative mixtures for semi finished products and molding materials having increased fire resistance and strength is based on: (A) 60-95 wt.% of triazine derivatives selected from: (i) 20-70 wt.% triazine derivatives with hydroxy alkylamino groups of formula (I); and (ii) 80-30 wt.% triazine derivatives with bis(hydroxyalkyl)imino groups of formula (II); and (B) 5-40 wt.% of multifunctional compounds comprising: (i) isocyanates of formula R(N=C=O)x and/or oligomeric polyesters or polyethers with isocyanate end groups and molecular weight 200-5000.; (ii) aliphatic 2-36C dicarboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acid esters, dicarboxylic acid chlorides, aliphatic 4-6C dicarboxylic acid anhydrides and/or aromatic multi basic 8-23C carboxylic acids carboxylic acid esters, carboxylic acid chlorides, or carboxylic acid anhydrides; or (iii) aliphatic 8-25C or aromatic 12-28C di- and/or triglyceride compounds R<1> = H or 1-4C alkyl, R<2> = H, OH, 1-4C alkyl, C6H5, NH2, NH-CH2CHR1-OH, NH-CH2-OR1, or N(CH2-OR<1>)2, R3 = H, OH, 1-4C alkyl, C6H5, NH2, NH-CH2-CHR1-OH, NH-CH2-OR1, or N(CH2-OR1)2, R = 4-18 alkyl,5-8C cycloalkyl and/or 6-15C aryl; and x = 2, 3, or 4, An Independent claim is included for preparation of the polymers by continuous kneading in a melt process at 160-280 deg C over 5-20 minutes, vacuum degassing, and granulation, or formed with a forming tool into sections, tubes, or plates, where compounds (B) and mixtures (A) are premixed before feeding to the continuous kneader, or bifunctional compounds (B), after melting mixture (A), are metered into the (A) melt in the continuous kneader.
