The cooker has a glass vessel (1) for accommodating food to be cooked, a base part (2) for setting the vessel upon and an arrangement (3,4) for inductively heating the glass vessel. The inductive heating arrangement has a conductive ring or band on or in the glass vessel. The conductive ring or band can be arranged in or on the side wall or floor of the vessel. AN Independent claim is also included for a method of cooking with the inventive device.
