An electronic display system comprises a data carrier element 2, e.g. a cartridge, a data receiving means 3 and a display means 4. The data carrier element 2 is a discrete portable element which is activated by the data receiving means 3 whereby data on the carrier element is displayed at the display means 4. The display means may be an LCD screen. The display system preferably forms a game or educational system, and the data relates to animated images. Each data carrier may also have embedded in it a read/write radio frequency transponder (11, Fig. 2.) to communicate with the data receiving means. The data receiving means may be illuminated when the data receiving means is inserted. |
