FIELD: medicine, immunopharmacology, pharmacy, biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves determination of the NADPH-oxidase reaction rate in white cell homogenates or in fraction of polymorphonuclear leukocytes of peripheral blood before and after addition of substances to be study to sample. Immunomodulating activity is detected by increase of the NADPH-oxidase reaction rate. Specific property of immunomodulating agents is a direct activation of NADPH-oxidase in homogenates of nonactivated white cells of peripheral blood and peritoneal macrophages. The property of potential immunomodulating agents to activate NADPH-oxidase in homogenates of "resting" white cells of peripheral blood and macrophages by their direct addition to homogenates in vitro is proved on example of immunomodulating agents of different structure, for example, as pyrimidine derivative (uracil), polypetide preparation Tactivin from cattle thymus gland, coneflower herb dry extract where sesquiterpene lactones are the acting component. Specificity of claimed method is proved on the basis of absence of activating effect of dragonhead herb dry extract showing antioxidant properties. Invention ensures to enhance sensitivity and economy of detection of immunomodulating activity in vitro. EFFECT: improved method of detection. 4 ex
