PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor which automatically sets an edge discrimination reference for input image data. SOLUTION: An edge discrimination reference setting means 1036 changes the edge discrimination reference for test image to set it a plurality of times. An edge discrimination means 1032 detects an edge with respect to each edge discrimination reference. An edge length calculation means 1034 obtains the edge length with respect to each edge discrimination reference. A control means automatically sets the edge discrimination reference, which gives a maximum edge length value, as the edge discrimination reference for input image data.
