APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUSLY ELECTROMAGNETIC CASTING ALUMINIUM USING SLIT TYPE MOLD

PURPOSE: An apparatus for continuously casting aluminium or aluminum alloy which is capable of producing slab without surface defects at a high speed by impressing electromagnetic field to the surface of molten metal using a slit type mold and spraying cooling water onto the slab using a cooling water injection nozzle. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for continuously casting aluminum or alloy thereof, the apparatus for continuously casting aluminium comprises a mold(1) which is formed in a casting direction of molten metal(2) and split by a plurality of slits(4) that are point symmetric for the central axis of the mold; a high frequency induction coil(3) that is formed on the outer part of the mold; and a plurality of cooling water injection nozzles(25) which are installed on the outer surface of the mold and upper and lower parts of the coil to cool the mold and slab(12), wherein electromagnetic force is applied to the molten metal in the mold through the slits of the mold by impressing electric current to the coil, and the molten metal in the mold is cooled by spraying of cooling water onto the mold through the cooling water injection nozzles.
