PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a driver's face parts and to store the positions of the face parts used as the reference of the angle of the driver's face. SOLUTION: A control part 50 detects the positions of the driver's nose and eyes based on an image generated by a CCD image sensor. When a vehicle- to-vehicle distance is a prescribed threshold or less and a steering angle is a prescribed threshold or less, the control part 50 compares the present positions of the nose and eyes with the first positions of the nose and eyes and counts the number of times when the difference is within a prescribed range. When the count value reaches the prescribed number of times, the first positions of the nose and eyes are made reference positions and written in a face part position memory 40.
