PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor of a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which can reduce the concentrated stress caused by centrifugal force on a thin part of the rotor in high-speed revolutions. SOLUTION: The rotor of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is composed of permanent magnets 10A and 10B for a field, which are fitted into rotor slots 5A and 5B constituted being split in two in such a manner that a central part of a rotor core 3 is left without cutting between through-holes 9 provided in both wing parts of the rotor core 3, a salient-pole part 6 which is formed on top surfaces of the magnets 10A and 10B, and a bridge 7 which makes the salient-pole part 6 and the rotor core 3 connected together between the rotor slots 5A and 5B. Constitutionally, an approximately arc-shaped slit 11 is formed between the through-hole 9 and a shaft hole 4 in the rotor core 3, and a radial thickness between an inner periphery of the slit 11 and the shaft hole 4 is made equal to that between inner peripheries of the rotor slots 5A and 5B and the shaft hole 4.
