PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a package for storing an image pickup device which is capable of effectively preventing variations in optical characteristics caused by moisture absorption. SOLUTION: The package for storing an image pickup device comprises an insulating substrate 1 having a recessed portion 1a, on a top face of which an image pickup device 4 is mounted; and a translucent lid body 2 which is bonded on the top face of the insulating substrate 1 body via a sealing compound 3 so as to cover the recessed portion 1a, wherein the translucent lid body 2 comprises a borosilicate glass plate 2a; a thin film layer 2b comprised of aluminum oxide which covers a lower surface of the borosilicate glass plate 2a; and a multiplayer film 2e which covers the lower surface of the thin film layer 2b, and is formed by laminating sequentially and alternately a high refractive index thin film layer 2c comprised of an insulating material having a refractive index of 1.7 or over, and a low refractive index thin film layer 2d comprised of an insulating material having a refractive index 1.6 or below.
