[Also in Division B5] A device for dispensing predetermined amounts of plastic material such as for use in lining bottle caps, comprises one or more discharge passages 40 through which the material flows, one or more blades 42 being arranged to be rotated across the exit ends of the passages in order to dispense predetermined quantitites of material. The plastic material is fed through a main feed passage 44 formed in a block 38, and into a bore 56 in which a plunger 54 reciprocates; the passage 40 leads from the bore and communicates with a discharge nozzle 114. The nozzle passes through a block 136 in which passages (148, 150, 154, 156, Fig. 7) are provided for a cooling fluid; a pair of identical nozzles are located in the block for co-operation with a pair of blades 42. The blades are mounted on shafts 194 which are rotated via gears 186, 192 and a chain-andsprocket drive 170, 172, 174. A pair of plungers 54 is associated with the nozzles and the plungers are reciprocated by means of cranks 94 driven via a gear drive. In operation, the timing of the operation of the plungers 54 and the blades is such that measured quantities of plastic falls into caps (C, Fig. 1) located on a rotary table (14) the caps then moving under a device (5) for moulding the plastic into the caps. The caps are delivered on to the table by means of a shoot (22) and are pre-heated by an element (32) partly surrounding the table.
