The electrohydraulic braking system has a hydraulic auxiliary pressure source (21) coupled to the master braking cylinder (2) via a hydraulic line blocked by a separation valve (11) and coupled to 2 inlet valves (17,18), associated with different wheel brakes (7,8), directly and via a switching valve (36) which is closed in its rest position, respectively. A piston-cylinder device (37) connected in parallel with the switching valve limits the pressure in the wheel brake upon opening of the switching valve. An Independent claim for a method for testing an electrohydraulic braking system is also included.
