PURPOSE: A method for controlling operation of multi air-conditioner is provided to make a single indoor unit to control the other indoor units. CONSTITUTION: A main indoor unit setting part including a main indoor unit setting switch(62) is placed in each of indoor units(30a-30n). The indoor units and an outdoor unit(10) are connected by signal lines(16) for mutual signal control. One of the indoor units is freely set as a main indoor unit by the main indoor unit setting switch to make the other indoor units sub indoor units so that the main indoor unit controls operation of the sub indoor units. The signal for controlling operation of the indoor units are transmitted through a microcomputer(11) of the outdoor unit.
