PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition and flameout detecting device which improves monitoring accuracy in both a region in which thermo-electromotive force generated by a thermocouple is so low as an ignition/flameout judgement level, and a region in which the thermo-electromotive force of the thermocouple is high after ignition. SOLUTION: The ignition and flameout detecting device is provided with a comparison amplifier 9 for comparing thermo-electric force generated by the thermocouple 4 with a given value, and a microcomputer 5 for detecting ignition and flameout based on the outputs from the amplifier 9. The amplification factor of the amplifier 9 is switched in accordance with the level of the thermo-electric force generated by the thermocouple. The output voltage values of the amplifier 9 are stored in both of the cases where a pseudo-power source B for permitting the amplifier 9 to output an output voltage of a theoretical value, is connected between the terminals of the thermocouple 4, and where not connected. Correction data for correcting the output voltage of the amplifier 9 in the case where the power source B is not connected between the terminals of the thermocouple 4, are outputted to the microcomputer 5 in both the region in which thermo-electromotive force generated by the thermocouple is so low as the ignition/flameout judgement level, and the region in which the thermo- electromotive force of the thermocouple is high after ignition.
